I%26#039;m just curious about how many points get taken off your credit score for a single inquiry?
How many points does a single inquiry on a credit report get taken off???
Each inquiry performed against you can deduct anywhere from four to 10 points. That is why it is very important when you are shopping for a vehicle, you do NOT let the auto dealership pull your credit until you are ready to purchase your vehicle. Many people make the mistake of letting each dealership they go to pull their credit. What happens is that the dealership then sends a funding request to anywhere from 10 to 200 lenders, each of whom will pull your credit. This can drop your score dramatically in some cases thus causing you to pay higher interest rates on your car loan.

There is no simple answer. The way a credit score is calculated is not by a simple formula, but by a very complex algorithm (which is heavily guarded and protected by Fair Isaac %26amp; Company and the others). Credit inquiries hurt you when there are too many of them and of different types within a 6-month period.
For instance, if you%26#039;re trying to buy a car and visit a few dealerships, chances are 2 or 3 of them will run your credit in order to estimate your payments (if you authorize it, of course), as long as inquiries are within 45 days of each other and of the same type, they all count as a single inquiry (that%26#039;s what%26#039;s called %26quot;rate shopping%26quot; in the industry).
One single inquiry does not affect your numerical record, when you start getting multiple inquiries from multiple verticals (credit cards, auto finance, personal lines, etc...) is when those inquiries affect your score... and even then, it%26#039;s hard to put a numeric impact as there are many variables to consider.
In Summary: One inquiry will not take off any points from your Credit Score (except if the inquiry is from a Finance Company which is considered a red flag and then it would affect it slightly from 1 to 10 points).
