I%26#039;ve been working hard at raising my credit score and I%26#039;m afraid that paying a five year old judgement %26amp; 2 three %26amp; four year old hospital bills will lower it back down. How does this work?
I paid off some old bills that were on my credit report. Will this lower my credit score?
Yes, your score will increase. I was in your situtation not that long ago. Last year my credit was so bad I could only get a payday loan. I did a lot of research on credit repair because I heard there were a lot of scams out there. I found a lot of scams but I also found several solutions for credit repair that actually work. I was able to increase my credit score by 200 point in less than 90 days. I knew if I could do it others could too. I decided to create a website that lists the products I reviewed so others would know which products are not scams. You can visit it at http://www.your-credit-solution.com .
I hope you find your solution there. Good Luck!

My son tried to get a home telephone connection but they refused saying that he had a bad credit rating. He contacted Creditline.com and got his credit rating report. The debt went back 8 years but even if he paid it now it would remain on his record for another 4 years! They did say that it would show as a paid bad debt. Big help for a young bloke trying to get the phone on. Good luck!

I talked to a representative of Ford Credit where I have my truck payment through. He told me how to repair my credit because my credit score is sort of bad and the only thing that is negative is unpaid medical bills. He pretty much told me to pay them off and he thought I was crazy when I asked him the same thing you are asking. He said %26quot;No that is absurd if you want to repair your credit you will have to pay these amounts off no matter how old they are%26quot; Most times if you contact a collection agency on behalf of your bills you can sometimes tell them that you don%26#039;t have much money but you have a lesser amount and they usually will take that amount and write off the rest. It has worked for me on several occasions. One time a bank that I owed money to did this for me and actually sent me a letter stating that I paid off the debt and I only had to pay $200 instead of $500

Excellent! This is a good thing to be willing to pay your bills. That says a lot on your character.
From now on, whenever you are trying to any old bills, contact your creditors to resolve the matter with them. Also ask them to report and update it to all three credit bureaus.
Good luck!

Why on earth would paying off a 5 year old judgment and 2 3+ year old bills LOWER your credit score? You don%26#039;t want those things on your credit report! A judgment means you weren%26#039;t paying your bills at one time and were sent to collection! You want that off your credit report as soon as possible! What you%26#039;ve done by paying these things off will only cause your score to go up - it will in NO way hurt you!

I would think your score would go up after paying off these past financial obligations. Good luck. Also, if you have current credit cards, make more than the min payment, like double the min payment should raise your score as well. When you pay off accounts leave them open with zero balance, that raises your credit score to.
