Can I remove a Repo from my credit report? And if so, how?

I got a truck in my name for my boyfriend. We still owe 34,000 on it. But he decided he no longer %26quot;feels%26quot; like paying for it. He said I should do a voluntary repo. But I do not want to damage my credit. He said there are people who can remove a Repo and raise my credit score. Is this true? What%26#039;s the catch?

Auto finance is what I do for a living and your boyfriend is a lier.

If you let the vehicle go back the account will show as a repossession and the lender will sell it at auction for less then it%26#039;s worth and come after you for the difference plus all fees for towing, storage, interest, reconditioning, lawyers and anything else they can think of.

This will amount to several thousand dollars and if you do not pay they will take you to court and get a judgment, at that point they can attach bank accounts, garnish wages (if your State allows it) and file liens on any other property you may own like cars, boats, land and homes.

All of this activity will show on your credit for the next 7.5 years making it very hard to get any other types of loans without making massive down payments, paying huge fees and State maximum interest rates.

Sell the vehicle and take out a loan for the difference if you have to, this way your good credit will not be trashed and then dump your boyfriend.

NO this is not true at all!!! He%26#039;s lying to you so you do the repo so he no longer has to pay it! I hope this isn%26#039;t you%26#039;re boyfriend anymore because he%26#039;s screwing you.

A repo will stay on your credit for 10 years, so don%26#039;t take this lightly at all. If he%26#039;s seriously not going to pay for the truck, I would learn a lesson from this and never co-sign with anyone again. But seriously, you need to sell the truck for as much as possible and use the money to pay off or down the loan. If the sale doesn%26#039;t pay off the loan in full, then you%26#039;ll have to deal with paying off the balance in time.

your boyfriend is taking you for granted and lying to you. (a) dump his a@% for treating you like that. (you probably wont because your a typical attached-female). (b) call the loaner...who you owe the money to...and work out a pyament plan. (c) if you dont want to pay for it, turn it in to the nearest car dealership and say your surrendering due to payments. This wont count as a reposession, but it will show up on your credit.

NO! A voluntary repo is still a repo. The way a repo works is the lein holder gets the car back, sells it at auction and you are responsible for anything still owed on the car after the car is sold. So, if the car is sold for $24,000, you will still owe $10,000. Maybe Car Max would be an option. Your boyfriend is very wrong. Sounds like a very selfish and financially irresponsible young man, don%26#039;t marry him!

Sell the car put it on an autotrade.com, you can remove repos and increase your credit score check out www.ncnlcorp.com. My advice is that you sell this car and keep your good credit standing.

The only thing I can add to Spifimans answer is do it in this order.

1. Take truck from boyfriend.

2. Drop boyfriend.

3. Sell truck.
