I need to run a credit report. What are some legitimate sources online?

I just got a note from my school saying that someone might have hacked into my info, most problematic my SS#. I%26#039;m looking for a safe free (if possible) place where I can get a report. I don%26#039;t want spam from this and I certainly don%26#039;t want to have my info distributed further.

Equifax, Experian and TransUnion

Experian is one of the 3 credit agencies of the US. It%26#039;s totally legit.

Go to http://www.experian.com/ and in the middle is a yellow box that you click to get a FREE credit report and score.

beware of free credit report sites - by giving them access to your credit history they give you a free report.

By law (the FACT ACT) you are entitled to a free report once a year. And if your account is at risk, the school should also provide one.

Go here - https://www.annualcreditreport.com and get your annual free report. This is the official one from the government and not those BS ones.

Definitely the site is truecredit. Its run by one of the credit bureaus and it will give your score for all 3 credit bureaus. Also I think for like 35 a year, they%26#039;ll keep you updated as to changes in your credit report.

myfico.com - this is a division of FairIsaac, the company that created the FICO score system used my the three major credit bureaus. If you want a single point of reference for all three reports that you want to check periodically, this is the best source, as they%26#039;re the ones who created it. If you want to study Karate, you go to Okinawa. If you want your credit reports/FICO scores, you go to myfico.com.
