I was in the hospital, unable to pay anything and my creditor reported me to the agencies. I disputed it but they said %26quot;the creditor verified the information to be correct.%26quot; What do I do? I was in the hospital unable to pay anybody. BTW this is the only late payment I had in 20 years. The report says it is potentially negative.

No worries. One late payment in 20 years is not going to hurt you much. The late payment will stay on your credit report for 7 year (nothing you can do), but will be weighted much less in a year. If you want, you can add a comment to your credit report that explains the situation, but probably not necessary if you plan on staying current in the future.

Don%26#039;t worry about it. If that%26#039;s the only negative thing in 20 years, you still have credit that%26#039;s much better than most, and it%26#039;s not going to affect you.

Your creditor will have a certain amount of time to verfiy if the information is correct or not. in your case they did verfiy the information so it will remain on your credit report, you may include in your credit file the reasons why you weren%26#039;t able to pay, however i%26#039;d recommend writing another effective dispute letter. i know a great resource that can help you go about this.

Try to work it out nicely with the creditor, before you do anymore disputes. You haven%26#039;t said whether or not to tried to work it out before disputing. You can appeal to their good side, even writing a goodwill letter to the CEO if you want, or threaten to take your business elsewhere-there is a lot of competition for your business. Other answerers are correct, one late payment with lots of good history will not affect you that much.

There is always a reason for late payments. It was late, that is the end of the story. If you really haven%26#039;t had any lates of 20 years, this is no big deal.
